Intel Core i3 Powered Chromebooks

The above image is the new Acer C720 Chromebook. It's the first to launch with an Intel i3 Core processor with rumors of Dell working on it's own i3 powered Chromebook.

The Acer C720 Chromebook will be available in two models with a 4th Generation Intel Core i3-40005U processor (1.7 GHz, 3 MB L3 cache). The Acer C720-3404 will have 4 GB of memory and will be priced at $379.99, while the Acer C720-3871 will have 2 GB of memory and will be priced at $349.99. They will be available this month at retailers in North America.

Both models will have 11.6-inch HD display with a 1366x768 resolution, 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, integrated HD webcam and microphone, HDMI, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, 32 GB Solid State Drive.

These are not bad in terms of specs, I wouldn't be surprised to see people buying these and looking into installing another OS instead of sticking with Chrome.

And, as I mentioned, the rumor is a new 11.6" Dell Chromebook will be released powered by a Intel Core i3 processor (1.4Ghz?) with 1080 & 1366x768 resolution as an option, 2GB/4GB RAM, 16GB SSD. Pricing will be set to compete with the above Acer models.
